What should I use; Lotion, Body Butter, Body Oil, or Balm?

Posted by DAYSPA BODY BASICS on

It depends....

Lotions, Body Butters, Body Oils, and Herbal Balm all have one common goal, to hydrate & treat skin. The difference between them is the consistency, depth of moisturizing and repair, concentration of botanical ingredients and personal preference.

Lotion

Lotions have the lightest consistency of the four and is designed mainly for light-weight moisturizing. Just because our lotions are lightweight, doesn't mean they are a light weight at hydrating your skin. Our lotions contain organic safflower oil and silk protein to give a luxurious silky feel and organic aloe to nourish the skin. The one big difference that lotion has is the need for a preservative to prevent bacteria growth. See our blog for more information on the non-paraben, non GMO, preservative we use.

Body Butter

Our Body Butters have a denser consistency and is designed not only to hydrate the skin but to also treat and repair dry skin such as hands, joint areas and feet. Body Butters don’t contain water, so they have a thicker texture than lotion and feel luxurious. They are solid at room temperature but easily melt when applied to your skin. Our body butters are packaged in a roll on tube for even coverage without getting on your hands. Body butters create a barrier on the skin to seal in moisture, as well as protecting the skin from harsh environments. Our Body Butters contain beeswax and either mango butter or cocoa butter which can moisturize the skin intensely and maximize skin hydration. They can be used on hands, feet, are amazing on freshly shaved legs, or wherever you need extra moisture.

Body Oil

If you only have one skincare product, we think it should be a Body Oil. Body Oils offer the perfect way to keep your skin moisturized while relaxing your mind. Body oils enhance the quality of your skin because they soak quickly and deeply into skin, leaving it moisturized all day long. Body oils are smooth, thick and highly concentrated. The vibrant vitamin rich color (from organic safflower oil) enhances the appearance and quality of skin. Our body oils can be used to remove makeup and can be used in place of soap for cleaning skin. They are fantastic for body massages because safflower quickly absorbs into skin. A couple drops in bath water relaxes the mind. After showering, apply body oil all over skin for the ultimate hydrator. A couple drops of oil on face before applying makeup for even coverage. Have sensitive skin? Use our body oils for shaving instead of a cream or soap. The oil protects the skin from the blade and will increase the life of your razor. This is why we love body oils.

Herbal Balm

Our Herbal Balms have a denser consistency than lotion and a higher concentration of botanical and essential oil ingredients than our body butters. They are designed not only to hydrate the skin but to also treat and repair naturally. Balms are solid at room temperature but easily melt when they come in contact to skin. Our balms are packaged in either a roll on tube or glass jar. They contain beeswax and either mango butter or cocoa butter which can moisturize the skin while delivering the extra benefits of healing organic herbs and hard-working essential oils.
